"2017 Brig Gen Allen J. Jamerson Runner-Up AFSFA Chapter of the Year"
Way to go Billie Renfroe Chapter!!!
As many of you know, Keith Goodenough, Wayne Cox, Willie Phillips, Ezell Gladney, Ron Shrader, Del Atkinson and my self attended the 31st Annual AFSFA Meeting held in our nations capital, Washington, D.C. 24-27 August 2017, with the theme "20 years as Security Forces". Wow! can you believe it's been 20 years already since they renamed the career field. I came in as a Security Police and a few of you maybe Air Police, but together we all are Defenders no matter what our title. We received several informative briefings one of which was from our Top-Cop, Brig Gen Andrea D. Tullos and our Top-Chief, CMSgt Tamala L. Hartz. They are doing great things for our Defenders. We also received an excellent briefings from Dr. Jeffrey F. Addicott on Terrorism and the Law; Ms. April Hamilton on DCS LEOSA Credential Update; and Col (Ret) Marty Strones briefing on his efforts returning Vietnamese killed remains from a mass grave that were from The Battle of Bien Hoa AB, Tet 1968, where the battle at Bunker 10 occurred. As you can see, we were well informed this year. It was a great honor to close the event winning the runner up award presented by Brig Gen (Ret) Jamerson himself.

5th Annual "Ruck for Kids"
On 17 December 2016, 20 members/family of the 301 SFS, 3 members of the Army National Guard, support from Officer Baron, Fort Worth Police Department and 2 Billie Renfroe chapter members (Lt Col (Ret) Goodenough and CMSgt (Ret) Ferguson) rucked toys for two miles, delivering nearly 1,000 toys to Cooks Children’s Hospital. This was for a great cause as this was the 5th Annual "Ruck for Kids". The goal is to hopefully bring a smile to a child’s face on Christmas when they are unable to spend the holidays at home. Every year we look for donations. This year, O A Peterson Elementary School (North Fort Worth) contributed 640 toys for the cause. Great job kids!!! If you know a school or business that would collect and donate toys, we would be glad to partner with them and deliver their toys to Cooks Children's Hospital (Fort Worth).
An event coming your way soon! Don Graves a Marine's Story and the Battle of Iwo Jima will be sharing his story on June 3, 2017.
At 8 a.m. on Feb. 19, 1945 a 19-year-old Donald Graves was a part of the third wave of Marines to land on Green Beach. With a 70-pound flamethrower strapped to his back, he advanced up the black sands of Iwo Jima and within minutes was under attack by Japanese mortars.
“We scurried out of the water and hit the sand,” Graves recalled. “I lay on that sand and all of my buddies are getting shot. One kid crawled to me and said ‘help me, help me’ and you can’t do it you’re supposed to go on. “[...] We kept on crawling and every time they sniped us we backed down in the sand.”
After coming under intense fire, Graves and the rest of the 5th Division of the Marine Corps finally made it to the top tier, but it wasn’t without casualties.
According to Graves, 2,000 Marines lost their lives that day.
If you want to hear the rest of the story, your going to have to come out and visit. When we lock down the dates, we'll let everyone know. It's our goal to continue to bring in guest speakers from time to time, so if you know someone with a story to tell, let us know.
